It has plenty to offer for its relatively modest price, and it's one of the most simple robots we've tested to set up. The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can mops up a storm and vacuums well too. The vacuum has four power modes, a selection of brushes and attachments, and a user-friendly application that lets you pick the kind of cleaning you'd like to have for each room.
For instance, you could choose to have the robot do a deep clean in the kitchen and living rooms but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation tech are also excellent, with the robot being capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only minor issue is that it can smash into walls and other objects at full speed. However, an instant glance at the cleaning history within the app will show you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and what obstacles it's avoided.
A convenient LCD screen on the docking station shows you when maintenance tasks are required like emptying the debris tray, and washing the water tank that is dirty. It is also able to mix detergent into the water tank automatically, using a 600ml eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop have plenty of run-time as well, with the mop being able to operate for 184 minutes in Quiet mode, while the vacuum is capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's top robot vacuum and mop. In contrast to the model of last year, this one features two agitators in its mopping pad which significantly improves its carpet cleaning abilities. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to remove small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners might overlook.
As with the two other Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology which can help to avoid furniture, walls and other obstacles. However, the S8 Pro Ultra takes things an extra step by incorporating a dual camera that can recognize objects and determine whether they are a wall or another type of surface. It then can automatically alter its path and clean around the objects without a pause.
It's the most expensive model I've tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular style is striking and has only three physical buttons: the power button, that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can bring the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid can be lifted to reveal a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin is auto-filling.
The only issue I have found with this model is that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if necessary) but it's a challenge to remove the mount to wash manually. I've found that any plush carpet that the robot passes will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, which can cause scratches.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart capabilities that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. The Roborock app allows you to manage and set up these smart features. It also includes maps and advanced mopping options. The app lets you schedule cleanings and track the battery's lifespan. However, you'll need to jump through a few hoops in order to enable voice control on this model which is a pity considering the quality of its performance.
3. Dreame X40

4. L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot that's among the most expensive available and comes with many extra features that distinguish it from. The mops come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It uses two high-speed mops to scrub floors more thoroughly than the standard method, and it has an impressive suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni, and it can vacuum up pet hair and other small dirt particles - as well as picking up spills and wet spots.
Its mops are also dried and cleaned inside the base station after each use. This feature is great because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from building up in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. It's a system that we haven't yet seen on other robot vacuums and mop models and could be a useful method to keep your home clean for longer.
